Suspect Who Sent Nude Photographs to Students At John Muir
Arrested In Oregon
Pasadena Police Officers were dispatched to a suspicious circumstances call in July involving obscene pictures being sent to hundreds of recipients (students and adults) from an e-mail account associated with John Muir High School.
The e-mails contained a nude photograph of John Muir science teacher, Richard Rosa. A criminal investigation was launched and detectives learned Rosa was not responsible for the emails and he was out of the country at the time the emails were generated. Further investigation revealed the e-mails were sent by Rosa’s estranged partner, David A. Galvan (Hispanic, male-38) who had unlawfully accessed Mr. Rosa’s Pasadena Unified School District e-mail account. Suspect-Galvan was reportedly angry over the relationship ending when he distributed the obscene pictures.
On July 24, 2014, the case was filed with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office who issued a $110,000.00 warrant for the following charges:
• Penal Code Section 529(a)(3)-False impersonation (felony)
• Penal Code Section 530.5(a)-Identity theft (felony)
• Penal Code Section 528.5(a)-Internet/Electronic impersonation (misdemeanor)
• Penal Code Section 311.2(a)-Obscene matter (misdemeanor-2 counts)
Galvan learned he was wanted by police and attempted to avoid arrest by hiding out in another state. With the assistance of the United States Marshal’s Office, Galvan was detained in Hillsboro, Oregon on October 21, 2014. Galvan waived extradition and was transported to the Pasadena City Jail late Wednesday evening, October 29, 2014. Galvan was later transported to Los Angeles County Jail where he remains in custody.
