Inaugural Police and Fire Memorial Held Outside City Hall Tuesday

Pasadena police chief Phillip Sanchez invited Pasadena firefighters to join them at a memorial Tuesday to honor their colleagues who have died in the line of duty. The memorial was the first ever held in Pasadena.
The spirit of commraderie between the first responders was strained, particularly after the 9/11 attacks in New York but Chief Sanchez hopes to bridge any gap between the two departments.
Four helicopters provided a fly over towards the conclusion of the ceremony and each department chief spoke as well as Mayor Bogaard.

Pasadena police officers who have died in the line of duty include Officer Kyle Ballard, 2006; Juvenile Officer Dennis Lamar, 1961; Agent Richard Morris, 1969; Patrolman Clarence Peck, 1911; Motorcycle Patrolman John Slade, 1909; and Sgt. Robert Speight, 1964.
