Peter Feldmann and the Very Lonesome Boys to perform at Caltech

Peter Feldmann and the Very Lonesome Boys will bring their excellent brand of bluegrass and traditional music to Caltech on Saturday, August 16 at 8:00 PM. The performance will be in Beckman Institute Auditorium (not to be confused with the much larger Beckman Auditorium) on the Caltech campus, at 400 South Wilson Avenue in Pasadena.
Peter Feldmann, master multi-instrumentalist (mandolin, guitar, banjo, fiddle) and singer, recently celebrated 50 years in bluegrass by holding a special concert in Santa Barbara, in which he was joined by 15 friends, all excellent musicians that he has played with over the years. This master of Americana was actually born in Switzerland, but he quickly became immersed in bluegrass and has been a key catalyst in keeping bluegrass alive in California and throughout the country. The Very Lonesome Boys includes a pair of former and founding members of the Cache Valley Drifters–David West, equally at home and amazing on banjo & guitar, and the fun-to-watch Tom Lee on upright bass. Veteran Oakland-based singer, Ray Bierl, will sit in on fiddle and the three of them add backing vocals and a lead or too as well. Peter plays mostly mandolin in this configuration, and he is an amazing picker. They perform an assortment of traditional bluegrass songs, along with a few David West originals, and they sound so fine. See their web site at
