That is not a typo. The Stepping Stone Players have no remorse about casting three members of the Byers family in their production of “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown.”
The eldest Byers, Jordan, had done several shows with the group. Last summer, he replaced an actor in the middle of the run of “Oliver” with only one day of rehearsal. He is what you might call a trouper.
So when his brother and sister came to audition this year, no one was surprised that they joined the cast. This year they have two casts, one with actors under 18 and one with actors over 18 to give more people a chance to perform. Mackenzie plays Sally in the younger cast, and Timmy plays Snoopy, the same part as his brother. They are wonderfully distinct in the role.
The Byers are a musical family. Their father, Matt, is a music teacher and has directed summer musicals for as long as they can remember. “Timmy and I have worked together before but not with Jordan. Now that we’re older we have a different type of respect for each other.” Mackenzie told us.
Timmy agrees. “Sally and Snoopy have a lot of stuff together. I’m comfortable working with my sister because we trust each other already.” And it shows.
“We don’t have the same type of connection at home. It’s nice to spend time with them. I am so proud of them,” said Jordan.
